Improving community facilities

Dominion Centre

Improvements to the Dominion Centre will result in a better library and venue for community arts, culture and learning; a better space for adults with learning and physical disabilities; and more space for groups to meet and host activities. There will also be space for activities such as IT and exercise classes.

Improvements include:

  • Extending the Dominion Centre
  • Upgrading and relocating Southall Library to move into a new extension
  • Refurbishing the existing hall, meeting rooms and reception area
  • Upgrading the lift and bringing it back into use
  • Building new parking spaces and dedicated drop off and pick up areas.

The pavement in front of the refurbished Dominion Centre will also be improved to match the new landscaping in the centre’s courtyard. New lighting will be installed to illuminate the front of the centre and the junction with Featherstone Road will be improved to help reduce congestion and make it easier for pedestrians to use.

The work to improve the Dominion Centre and surrounding area will start in September 2014 and the centre is due to reopen in October 2014.

The Dominion Centre is closed while the work takes place.
